about

We take the north bound train through muskeg, river and bush to the far north, to the land, rivers and places we grew up in as children. We happily ride the train so that we may see familiar places, friends and family to rejoice and reacquaint with them. For soon, we know, it will be very hard to leave our loved ones to ride the south bound train again.

lyrics

Travellin home on a northbound train
Rusted rails weavin thru the lowland
Dusty roads still look the same
Cross the river in an ole man's boat, I'm feelin good

As I walk up to my folks home
Think I see them in the window
My heart aches, I don't know why
Took so long to get back, but I'm here now

So many fears I left behind
So many tears I've yet to cry

No matter where I've been or what I've seen
Northbound train always takes me home
But its hard to leave on the southbound
Always hard to ride it down, But I'll ride it down

So I took a walk on the main road
Past the places I used to know
Smiles on faces they're getting old
Weathered and worn by the northern winds
and its cold 'n' hard

So many tears I thought I left behind
So many tears I've yet to cry

No matter where I've been or what I've seen
Northbound train always takes me home
But its hard to leave on the southbound
Always hard to ride it down, But I'll ride it down

As the Fall rains drizzle down on me
Tall grass grows where old homes used to be
I feel the old haunts all around me
Spirits, souls and small-town ghosts
